NIGHTWATCH FOR EUROPE week beginning Sunday 30th September 2007

‘Could you not watch with me for one hour?’ (Mtt26: 40)

WELCOME TO THE NIGHT WATCH FOR EUROPE

Apologies for any peculiarities in the text of last week’s watch material, parts of the previous week’s copy were inadvertently left behind! Keep praying for us as we work each week to keep the material fresh and alive. It is likely that the team will be meeting shortly to pray over the content and direction for the final year. Please remember us! This week we will pray into the response to Martin Scott’s word, focus prayer on to a report we have received from a watcher in the city of Munich and then pray for Albania and Macedonia.

If you know of anyone who would also like to receive this night watch prayer bulletin each week, they can subscribe by going to www.passion.org.uk/announcemail and submitting their details on the web form. Alternatively they can email us at admin@passion.org.uk

IF YOU ARE A REGULAR YOU CAN SKIP THE NEXT 2 PARAGRAPHS

If you are receiving this material unexpectedly it is because someone has suggested that you may be interested to join in. If you do not want to keep receiving it please inform us immediately and we will stop sending it to you. We want to let those of you who are newcomers know that we are very pleased to have your partnership in this watch. We are simply asking for a commitment of an hour a week some time between 9pm and 6am whatever time zone you are in.

We will send you a brief outline for prayer each week according to the prophetic direction coming from the contemporary prophetic movement in Europe. You will not always agree with everything in the watch material.  Go with what you can and trust the Lord to help you with the rest. This Nightwatch began in November 2003 and we are looking to carry on for another year and two months, while realising that some can’t commit right now for as long as that, we are pleased for you to enlist for as long as you can. If you have to miss an occasional watch it’s OK as the rest of us will carry it. A six-month commitment is probably a good start.

THE CONTENT OF THE WATCH FOR THE WEEK BEGINNING SUNDAY 30th SEPTEMBER 2007

1. WE BEGIN BY PRAYING INTO THE FOLLOWING RESPONSE TO MARTIN SCOTT’S WORD (full text from martin@3generations.eu) (20 minutes)

Martin wrote: “Signs in themselves are very important - they point to the reality so give us sight, and they draw the reality of what they point to the earth, so open up the door of experience for us. This 'going higher' and 'going deeper' has been wrongly separated. The early disciples knew how to access heaven and how to care for the marginalised.”

This was the response:

“Thank you for including this word from Martin.  This message of bringing these two focuses into unity is so vitally important.  In the ‘mainstream’ they are still widely separated in my opinion but the crowd is getting larger all the time that seeks to bring them together.  Bringing them together answers SO many questions and addresses SO many issues in the fractured Body of Christ and in society at large.  Let’s pray that these sorts of statements that make sense out of the context of our lives, like Martin has made here will increase. Pray that more and more people who are not usually attuned to the times they are living in will be able to make more and more sense out of the changes in their lives and in the world around them.  Pray that they would begin to sense what's happening and act with intention to purposefully join their delicate single brush stroke with the broad, brush stroke of the Spirit.  Not to get swallowed up in it and lose that individual quality but to know where and how to put their specific ‘accent’ stroke so that it makes the most impact within the whole mural that God is creating.”

2. PRAY OVER THE FOLLOWING REPORT FROM A NIGHTWATCHER IN MUNICH (20 MINUTES)

“Munich is in an interesting stage. On the one hand there are extraordinary developments concerning the unity in the city. More and more leaders are coming together sensing the urgency to pray and act together. On one level more leaders of different streams are coming together from catholic to charismatic than ever before and we are seeking God together what we can do to serve our city, reach people and make the light of Christ sit on an obvious "lampstand". On the other hand it seems like the power and presence of God is "draining out". There is a lot of spiritual resistance. (One of the greatest apostles in Munich recently died of cancer.)

Munich would love to keep the church in a box, as a minor option of living life. Even in the big 850 year celebration of the city where everybody is invited to participate the churches weren’t invited. From next year on there will be a Christian prime minister for Bavaria, the region of which Munich is the capital. Hopefully there will be a stronger release for the church. In contrast Munich’s mayor was a Christian in his youth, but now is more of a liberal atheist.”

This watcher is involved in a challenging building situation. They believe that they are called to own land in the city as a church, but don’t want to build a ‘sacred’ building, but something which functions as a centre for the community.  Somewhere that the people of the city are served and have the opportunity to get to know God’s love. A place for music, arts, training, help... Pray for the fulfillment of this vision.

3. PRAY OVER THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ABOUT ALBANIA AND MACEDONIA ADAPTED FROM THE SEPTEMBER PRAYER EMAIL FROM TOUCH THE NATIONS [office@touchthenations.org] (20 minutes)

ALBANIA

During the summer months many children’s camps took place in Albania. Please pray for remaining fruit and good repercussions in the children’s daily lives, also for their families, that they open up to Jesus because of the impact on their children’s lives. Also pray for the churches to be strengthened, that they embrace new believers with love but also mentor them that they learn to be disciples.

Albania is the ancient region of Illyricum, where Paul said that he “fully preached the gospel” (see Romans 15:19). This means that the substance of the gospel “fully preached” is their inheritance. Let’s pray in faith for the manifestation of the Spirit, obedience by word and deed, and the power of signs and wonders in Albania this week and in the months to come.

MACEDONIA: new land for a base

The team from YWAM-Macedonia has an unusual chance to purchase a base in the strategic city of Tetovo, 30km south west of the capital. Land is still low-priced, but will double in cost, however, in the coming months. Therefore they urgently need 100.000 euros for the purchase of this property near the university. They also need more money for refurbishing the building. Please pray for the release of the necessary finances and that this project will come to pass quickly, as well as for prepared hearts and an easy transition.

We would love to have more input for prayer from the eastern and central European nations. Please make the watch known to any friends and contacts you have there!
