WELCOME TO THE NIGHT WATCH FOR EUROPE
Thank you for your prayers for the Polish election. This election and result is very significant for the political future of the continent. Whether or not it delivers the future it promises will be at least in part dependent on our prayers. So we will push on with our prayers for Poland this week, seeking the outworking of this kind of result in other countries of our continent.
Any of you who live within reach of the Alsace region might be interested to know that the whole Nightwatch team will be in Guebwiler for the weekend of November 9 -11th, a weekend that coincides with the one remaining year of this watch. Details from david@leighweb.com

We will send you a brief outline for prayer each week according to the prophetic direction coming from the contemporary prophetic movement in Europe. You will not always agree with everything in the watch material. Go with what you can and trust the Lord to help you with the rest. This Nightwatch began in November 2003 and we are looking to carry on for one more year, while realising that some can’t commit right now for as long as that, we are pleased for you to enlist for as long as you can. If you have to miss an occasional watch it’s OK as the rest of us will carry it. A six-month commitment is probably a good start.
THE CONTENT OF THE WATCH FOR THE WEEK BEGINNING SUNDAY 28th OCTOBER 2007
1. PLEASE PRAY OVER THE FOLLOWING REPORT FROM JOHN GODSON ON THIS WEEK’S ELECTION IN POLAND (30 minutes)
a) John Godson’s report on his own election result (10 minutes)
“I wish to inform you that the official results of the Polish parliamentary elections are out. Out of the 20 candidates from our list, I had the 7th best result (with 3807 votes). The first 5 candidates were chosen as MPs. The first 4 are present MPs while the 5th is the deputy mayor of Lodz. I wish to thank all those who supported me with prayers and words of encouragement. I am thankful to God for these results. This is a sign of the trust and God's favour. I believe that greater things are ahead. I will continue serving my community and the nation of Poland.”
b) John Godson’s report on the election result overall (20 minutes)
I wish to give a very important update. The political party I contested from has won the elections with 41.5% of the votes. The outgoing ruling party got 32% of the votes while two other parties had 13% and 9% respectively. The leader of the Civic Platform, Donald Tusk has been designated to become the new prime minister of Poland. I have met Donald many times and he is a man of humility. Just before the elections, he met with a number of pastors who prayed for him. We believe he is man God has called for such a time as this.
Please keep praying for the following issues:
• That the coalition negotiations will go smoothly. The leader of the other party is Waldemar Pawlak. They had 9%.
• That the right and God fearing people will be chosen as ministers and other positions of responsibility.
• That God will protect Donald Tusk from all plans and attacks of the enemy.
• For grace for him to take Poland forward into its God's given destiny in Europe and the world.
2. PRAY INTO THE EXTRAORDINARY STATEMENT FROM DONALD TUSK, THE FUTURE POLISH PRIME MINISTER AND LEADER OF THE CIVIC PLATFORM, THE PARTY THAT HAS WON THE LARGEST PERCENTAGE OF THE VOTE IN THE POLISH ELECTIONS (10 minutes)
"We can only overcome evil with good. The most important exam, which every candidate for public office- prime minister, minister, MP or senator is the exam that asks the question- Does he or she have the capacity to love? Only people who love have the right to rule. We can only overcome evil with good. Civic Platform is here so good will overcome evil. Only your faith in the fact that you are in the service of truth, love and goodness gives sense to your public service.”
Pray for grace for Donald Tusk and his party to live up to this extraordinary political statement. Pray for men and women of integrity like this to win election and rise to leadership in the European nations.
3. PRAY FOR THE AFTERMATH OF THE RECENT ELECTIONS IN THE UKRAINE (10 minutes)
The European Commission has welcomed the formation of a coalition between the two major pro-western parties in Ukraine after the September elections, hoping that the country will continue to choose the path of reform. ‘I welcome the announcement of the formation of a coalition following the September parliamentary elections in Ukraine,’ external relations commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner said on Tuesday. ‘The future government has important challenges ahead as Ukraine continues down the path of constitutional, political, and economic reforms. The European Commission stands side-by-side with Ukraine as it continues along this path of reform,’ she added. Ukraine's two major pro-western parties - led by Yulia Tymoshenko, a Christian, and Viktor Yushchenko - signed a draft coalition deal on Monday.
Pray for a lasting relationship for this coalition, and a time of peace and blessing for the Ukraine.
4. PRAY FOR THE UK AS IT REMEMBERS 40 YEARS OF LEGAL ABORTION THIS SATURDAY OCTOBER 27TH (10 minutes)
Repent with the UK for the six million abortions that have taken place during the last 40 years.
Pray for all 10 -14 year olds in the UK and Europe. This may seem a strange suggestion in this context. However some 12 years ago I had my first experience of serious travail in prayer. It came in the context of a day of prayer for 10 -14 year olds. The prophetic experience of birthing prayer only stopped when the Lord showed me a date: October 27th 1967, the date of the UK Abortion Act. He showed me that the purpose of the devil is to subvert the lives of the rising generation so that they abort their children. If they mature as adults in a situation where abortion is regarded as the norm, like a form of birth control, then a whole future generation of people will be lost to the world. Pray for revelation and wisdom for the rising generation of adolescent children maturing to adulthood to receive revelation from God and sense from society that abortion is wrong.
Pray for a reduction in the legal time frame for abortion. Currently two thirds of all doctors would like the legal time frame lowered, but the current British government opposes any reduction. Pray for an about turn from the British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown and the UK parliament.
