NIGHTWATCH FOR EUROPE: week beginning Sunday February 25th 2007
‘Could you not watch with me for one hour?’ (Mtt26: 40)
WELCOME TO THE NIGHT WATCH FOR EUROPE
Remember that this watch is accompanied by angelic help. So be encouraged and strengthen yourself in God! This week promises to be one of significant changes that we need to be ready in prayer for, then we will pray into the final excerpt from Sue Mitchell’s word for the year, a vision from Poland and a challenge to pray for the island of Ireland.
If you know of anyone who would also like to receive this night watch prayer bulletin each week, they can subscribe by going to www.passion.org.uk/announcemail and submitting their details on the web form. Alternatively they can email us at admin@passion.org.uk
IF YOU ARE A REGULAR YOU CAN SKIP THE NEXT 2 PARAGRAPHS web form.
If you are receiving this material unexpectedly it is because someone has suggested that you may be interested to join in. If you do not want to keep receiving it please inform us immediately and we will stop sending it to you. We want to let those of you who are newcomers know that we are very pleased to have your partnership in this watch. We are simply asking for a commitment of an hour a week some time between 9pm and 6am whatever time zone you are in.
We will send you a brief outline for prayer each week according to the prophetic direction coming from the contemporary prophetic movement in Europe. You will not always agree with everything in the watch material. Go with what you can and trust the Lord to help you with the rest. We are looking to carry on for another year and eight months, while realising that some can’t commit right now for as long as that. We are pleased for you to enlist for as long as you can. If you have to miss an occasional watch it’s OK as the rest of us will carry it. A six-month commitment is probably a good start.
THE CONTENT OF THE WATCH FOR THE WEEK BEGINNING SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25th 2007
1. TAKE 15 MINUTES TO PRAY OVER SIGNIFICANT SHIFTS IN THE LEADERSHIP OF CHURCH AND NATION THAT HAVE ALREADY STARTED AND WILL BE CONTINUING IN THE COMING WEEK
This last weekend several prophets met to pray over important aspects of the shift away from the Roman way of operating that is currently impacting church and society and which we have prayed into during past watches. The outcome was the expectation of immediate major leadership changes. Pray for God’s timing and for the opportunities that follow the shifts to be taken up by the right people and for the church, the continent and the wider world situations involved to make way for greater partnership and justice in leadership and for the poor to be made the priority in every situation.
Declare in faith:
"Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh. Blessed are you when men hate you, and ostracize you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man. Be glad in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For in the same way their fathers used to treat the prophets.” (Luke 6:20-23)
2. TAKE 15 MINUTES TO PRAY OVER THIS VISION FROM POLAND
Pastor Ryszard Wójciak emailed to let us know that during the Nightwatch for Europe last Sunday (February 18th) Marianna Bakalarz had a vision. She saw over Europe the fields ready for harvest and the trees which were beginning to bud with the leaves. Pray for a harvest of the good news of the kingdom of God, not for success for our churches and ministries but something far bigger that will change us as well as our continent. Give time to pray and reflect over what this might mean. Let us know what the Lord shows you. Pray for Poland too, that the reward for her perseverance and past sufferings that God has promised will come, and she will experience the first fruits of the harvest that Marianna saw.
3. TAKE 15 MINUTES TO PRAY AND REFLECT OVER THE FINAL EXCERPT FROM SUE MITCHELL’S WORD FOR THIS YEAR
As we saw last week, “John’s own struggle, even in prison, was with his expectations of how power functions in the kingdom of God. He knew by revelation and experience that Jesus was the one sent from God, but could only ask, ‘Are you he, or should we look for another?’, since his way of being King was to go and hide himself from the coronation! Jesus so severely contested the worldly mindsets even of one so radically different and so radically just, like John (none greater born among women…) that it confused even John enough to cause such questioning of what he had received by revelation and encounter.”
We continue: “This is strong drink indeed that we have all imbibed with our mothers’ milk! The effect of Jesus’ alternate kingdom is however already released in the earth and as the Nazarites contend during this period there will be sudden and significant shakings of seats of power, sudden bizarre and awkward political alliances which cannot hold for long, and a great multiplication of small, very effective, focussed interest groups persuading and affecting much governmental policy, for good and ill. It is a time in which Christians should also align themselves in unusual alliances, no longer as a block Christian position, but involved in the human issues and struggles of justice, learning and growing among men and women of peace. Wisdom encourages us to avoid the seats of power and embrace the flexibility of issue-based influence. The call could be, perhaps like Paul for a timed vow, during which we experience the pain and conflict of a radically different lifestyle from the western consumerism and doctrinal escapism into which we have been corporately baptised to find us limping as we emerge on the other side, having striven with God.”
4. TAKE 15 MINUTES TO PRAY FOR THE ISLAND OF IRELAND
Next month the seemingly impossible will happen and the Northern Irish legislature will be reconvened and direct rule from Westminster will once again come to an end. The first minister of Northern Ireland will be a past leader of protestant extremism and his deputy will be a past leader of Irish Republican extremism. From any perspective this is surely a miracle. Pray that nothing will stop God’s miracle from happening in his way, pray for humility and courage for the leaders involved and for their relationship with the governments of the UK and Ireland. Above all pray that the land and the people will be reconciled to one another and to the Lord.
Pray the Lord’s Prayer over the situation:
“Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” (Mat 6:9-13)
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PERSISTENCE IN THIS WATCH,
