NIGHTWATCH FOR EUROPE: week beginning Sunday January 14th 2007

WELCOME TO THE NIGHT WATCH FOR EUROPE
As we move ahead with the watch into this New Year we would like to make the shape and content of the guidelines more corporate. This means that we need even more responses from you all so that we can include them the following week. David Leigh from France found the excerpts from Martin Scott’s word very helpful as he prayed into them and wondered if they could all be applied to France. As a result we will take time to pray for Martin’s words once again this week, first of all applying them to France and then using them to pray for our own nations.

We are simply asking for a commitment of an hour a week some time between 9pm and 6am whatever time zone you are in.
We will send you a brief outline for prayer each week according to the prophetic direction coming from the contemporary prophetic movement in Europe. You will not always agree with everything in the watch material. Go with what you can and trust the Lord to help you with the rest. We are looking to carry on for another year and ten months, while realising that some can’t commit right now for as long as that. We are pleased for you to enlist for as long as you can. If you have to miss an occasional watch it’s OK as the rest of us will carry it. A six-month commitment is probably a good start.
THE CONTENT OF THE WATCH FOR THE WEEK BEGINNING SUNDAY JANUARY 14th 2007
1. TAKE 10 MINUTES TO PRAY AND REFLECT OVER DAVID LEIGH’S RESPONSE TO LAST WEEK’S EXCERPTS FROM MARTIN SCOTT’S NEW YEAR WORD:
“I'm wondering if these three words from Martin could all be for France as a nation in some way. With the Presidential elections (in April I believe), there is a forced decision to the right or the left (much like American politics). Could that cause France to "move" politically, culturally, spiritually from where she's "lived" for "10 years or more"? I certainly feel a sense of anticipation for SOMETHING...just not sure what! Pray for the Church in France to steward her nation in this and for discernment about what the changes mean in God's perspective, as He so often uses ‘negative’ circumstances to provoke strong reactions in us so that we see more clearly what He's putting His finger on to be fixed, and so that we turn and seek His face.”
2. TAKE 10 MINUTES TO PRAY AND REFLECT OVER MARTIN SCOTT’S WORD FOR FRANCE IN THE LIGHT OF DAVID’S RESPONSE:
“France is marked this year as a sign nation in Western Europe and there will be both a hush come over the nation and also a major anticipation of a new future.
There is the possibility of a rebirth taking place there. In the humanistic and idealistic secular environment of the nation something is growing. The port cities are key to open France spiritually.”
Pray for France, and then ask the Lord to show you whether any of this word applies to your nation. If not, ask the Lord to show you what he is saying about your nation. Please feed back what you receive so that we can use it for future watches.
3. TAKE 10 MINUTES TO PRAY AND REFLECT AGAIN OVER THIS SECOND WORD, APPLYING IT TO YOUR NATION
“It will be a year when pathways will increasingly become clear - not so much coming to a crossroads but T-Junctions where the option is the right or the left, going straight on will not be an option. Hence the need to make decisions not based on the fear of consequences.”
4. TAKE 10 MINUTES TO PRAY AND REFLECT AGAIN OVER THIS THIRD WORD, APPLYING IT TO YOUR NATION
“Again a year is here for movement. There will be a number of people who seem settled in an area - been resident there for 10 years and more - who will either have moved by the end of the year or be in motion to move. There will be an emphasis on reducing possessions, of travelling light. Some of this will seem to be in the realm of sacrifice, but the spirit of joy is going to manifest in the apparent sacrifice.”
5. TAKE 10 MINUTES TO PRAY OVER GERMANY’S COMING PRESIDENCY OF THE EUROPEAN UNION.
The December prayer email for Europe sent out by office@touchthenations.org includes the following:
“At the beginning of the year Germany assumes the Presidency of the Council of the EU. Since Germany is in a time of grace and upturn, the Lord will try to use this to increase the EU. Chancellor Merkel has to make use of the divine initiatives and give everything to achieve them and resist any temptation to try and buy the approval of her own country by causing political reactions in the EU. She has the spiritual potential to bring forth surprising things if she listens to God. Let us pray fervently for this grace. At the same time there are many pitfalls that have to be avoided. Please try and understand the plan of God along these lines over the coming few months and pray it into existence.”
6. FINALLY TAKE 10 MINUTES TO PRAY FOR MORE CREATIVE AND COURAGEOUS INTERCESSORS TO BE RAISED UP ACROSS EUROPE:
One example of this is Stephen Deeming who having walked the East Coast of Britain to pray for its healing and its relationship with the rest of Europe is currently embarking on a prayer walk down the East coast of Africa, praying, among other things for healing and forgiveness for Europe’s colonial and imperial enterprise.
